Local Area Information

Cresswell village is at the southern end of Druridge Bay, a tranquil and unspoiled 7 mile stretch of golden sand. It marks the beginning of the Northumberland Coast Path. Located mid-way between Newcastle and Alnwick, Anchor Cottage and Pele View Cottage are perfectly situated for touring Northumberland, a region steeped in history with many castles, stately homes and gardens, all within easy reach by car. Bird watching, walking, fishing, cycling and golf are all available locally. There is an excellent beach café (the Drift Café) only 5 minutes walk along the beach, and Cresswell Ices in the village is renowned for its home-made ice-cream. Ellington (1.5 miles away) has a pub (The Plough), a local shop and a large and well-stocked Co-op store.
