Guestbook

Pele View Cottage (March 2024) - is a beautiful place to stay. The photos are incredibly accurate. The beach is a 2 minute walk from the cottage. It was warm, spacious and comfortable. The porch at the back of the cottage was perfect for sandy boots! It is a perfect location for exploring the area. The recommendations from our host, for places to visit and where to eat were excellent.
The guest information guide book in the cottage was clear and comprehensive.
We have had a really lovely week.

Anchor Cottage (March 2024) - Happy place! We've now been to Anchor Cottage twice and have booked again for next year. It is one of our 'happy places'. Although we visit nearby places and explore other bits of the coast we are drawn day after day onto the beautiful beach just outside the cottage. The cottage is just as warm and welcoming as we remember it with spectacular views from upstairs and downstairs out over the sea or out over the fields to Pele Tower. To sit in bed and watch the waves is an absolute treat. Anchor Cottage is very well equipped and the fresh flowers, local jam and cake are the finishing touches.

Pele View Cottage (March 2024) -The place to go to wind down! Had a lovely time here. Well laid out there is nothing extra that the owners could do in the cottage to make it anymore welcoming. Very clean and tidy. Right on the beach so perfect for walking out little dog. Had such a relaxing time here didn’t want to leave. Great communication from booking right up to leaving. And to top it all off a nice homemade chocolate cake was waiting for us in the lovely kitchen. Highly recommend this place.

Anchor Cottage (March 2024) We had a lovely, relaxing stay at Anchor Cottage. Walks on the beach, big skies and stunning scenery, and log fires in the evening. Just what we needed.

Pele View Cottage (March 2024) - Great communication from the owners before, through and after our stay. This was our second visit to their beautiful beach front Pele View cottage in Northumberland. Great location, very clean, home from home feeling. Very warm and comfortable. Locally the beaches are beautiful great for long dog walks. The Drift Cafe is just down the road, dogs welcome, staff friendly and the food is good and reasonably priced. Wild life in abundance, whilst there we saw a barn owl, deer and hares and birds of prey... Northumberland, beautiful part of the county absolutely love it and certainly will be returning in the future to Pele View Cottage.

Pele View Cottage (March 2024) -Just wow! Beautiful cottage with amazing views. Clear communication and great hosts and very helpful both prior and during our stay. A lovely chocolate cake and pot of jam to welcome us and some thoughtful treats for our dog. The cottage far exceeded our expectations and it was lovely to be able to take our dog, with plenty of beach walks and we were surprised how many dog friendly pubs and restaurants there were in the area. We went to The Drift for breakfast, The Fish Shack for the tastiest fish and chips and had Sunday lunch at the Northumberland Arms. I’m sure we will be back.

Pele View Cottage (February 2024) - Very relaxing few days enjoying the beautiful coast and cosy cottage. Well equipped kitchen and very comfortable accommodation. We have had a wonderful time and felt very well looked after.

Pele View Cottage (February 2024) - Perfect winter break! Everything you would want from a holiday cottage in Northumberland. Great location, less than a minute to the beach where you can walk for miles! Well equipped and very comfortable with a lovely log burner, ideal for cold winter nights. The hosts were perfect, friendly and welcoming and provided a huge amount of information (and also a chocolate cake!). Loved our time at Pele View Cottage.

Anchor Cottage (February 2024) - Superb cottage with great views! Anchor cottage is without doubt one of the best properties we have ever stayed in. From our arrival we just fell in love with this property. Anchor cottage is situated in the small village of Cresswell and has superb views over the bay from the kitchen. The lounge window overlooks a Pele tower and fields. Upon arrival we were greeted with a home made chocolate cake and flowers, which were a wonderful treat. The owners were very helpful in recommending walks in the area and also where to eat, which we took full advantage of. There is also very detailed information within the cottage along with maps, books and dvds. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable and is much bigger than it looks in the pictures. If you like peace and quiet, and walking this property is for you. Will be returning without a doubt.

Pele View Cottage (February 2024) - Peace and comfort in Northumberland! Had a wonderfully peaceful break at Pele View Cottage. The location is so peaceful with a beautiful beach a few minutes walk away. The view is also fantastic - lucky with the weather so we could enjoy a beer sitting on the bench watching the waves. The cottage was immaculately clean, well equipped and comfortable. The fire was most welcome. The bed was so comfy - fluffy pillows and double layered quilt. The owners provided plenty of information and communicated before, during and after our visit to make sure we were happy with everything. Looking forward to returning - hopefully soon.

Pele View Cottage (January 2024) - Just the most beautiful cottage! Watching the waves crash in from the kitchen window, and sitting wrapped up looking out to sea from the bench watching for seals is something rather lovely. Pele View Cottage has everything you need, comfort, style, a log burner, a corkscrew and a cake on arrival.

Anchor Cottage (December 2023) -  I have been lucky enough to stay in Anchor Cottage in early summer and in the new year. Whatever the season, my holidays have been idyllic. The cottage itself is stunning and the log burner in the winter makes the evenings extra cosy. Watching the wild waves through the kitchen window is exhilarating and walking on the beach is stunning. I never feel the need to venture far although there are many places to explore nearby but I just love the beach, the dunes and the cottage. It is definitely my happy place and provides a great escape so I can relax and recharge - I have already booked two more visits! Thank you for another fantastic holiday.

Pele View Cottage (December 2023) - Family of 3 with 1 cockapoo. Great week and Christmas spent in this beautiful cottage. Am really going to miss sitting on the bench both night and day. So lovely to watch the moon shimmering on the sea at night … and a seal fishing in the sea around 1 hour after high tide. We saw nacreous clouds, moon halo, moon bow and spent time walking on the nearby Cresswell beach and woods at the Pele Tower. We watched some lovely sunrises. The cottage is very well equipped and the decor is tasteful. It was lovely to have a real fire in the afternoon when weather bad and in the evenings. Can recommend the cooked fish platter from nearby Northumberland seafood company in Amble which also has a lovely vibe for a wander and coffee etc. Son said the sausage role from the Geordie Banger hut was the best he’s ever had. The owners are super hosts and do their best to ensure guests get the most out of their stay. Cottage was very clean and bedding/facilities etc of lovely quality.

Anchor Cottage (November 2023) - A Week’s Relaxation! We’ve just completed our 4th visit to Anchor Cottage and it’s still looking as great as the first one! It always seems a haven of peace and the welcoming pack including the homemade cake gets us off to a great start. We’ve normally visited in November and have had surprisingly good weather each time. The morning view from the bedroom window with a cup of tea always sets us up for the day. As mentioned by many, the cottage is beautifully presented with high quality furnishings and fittings. The wood burner in the lounge makes autumn evenings very comfortable after one of the many coastal walks available. The Drift Cafe and Mykonos restaurant nearby are an added attraction with their homely and well cooked food. We always go home feeling relaxed and energised!

Pele View Cottage (November 2023) - Nice week away in Northumberland. The cottage has everything you need and a lovely welcome cake. The room downstairs is very cosy and the main bedroom is very spacious. We were lucky to get a great Northern Light show on bonfire night from the back of the cottage overlooking the sea. Lots of nice country and beach walking in the area.

Pele View Cottage (October 2023) - Lovely stay! Lovely cottage and beautiful location. Excellent facilities, gorgeous beach to walk the dog on. Will be back.

Pele View Cottage (October 2023) - Relaxing stay in a stunning cottage. A well equipped fisherman’s cottage with everything you need for a self catering stay.. nothing is missing from the corkscrew to waves splashing by the bench on the bank wall in the garden. Beautiful cottage. We will return

Anchor Cottage (October 2023) - Second visit joy! We have just returned from our second stay in Anchor Cottage this year and it was just as good as last time. The location is spectacular, whatever the weather, even on a wet and windy day it is very peaceful watching the weather from the panoramic dining kitchen window. Loads to do around the area, from walking on the sandy beach, to hunting for sea glass, to numerous castles and stately homes, sea trips, you name it! Cleanliness in the cottage was as excellent as ever. Thank you! We will be back again!

Pele View Cottage (October 2023) - Very clean and comfortable cottage with everything you need for easy self-catering. Beautiful beaches within walking distance and an excellent base for exploring the area. Very quiet and peaceful location during our visit in early October.

Anchor Cottage (September 2023) – as good as ever! There are many reasons why we have now made 8 trips to Anchor Cottage. It is the perfect setting, a fabulous place to stay….thanks to the owners and ideal as a location for visits along the coast and places inland. We went to Seaton Delaval for the first time and it was well worth the short trip. Highly recommended. We will be back.

Anchor Cottage (September 2023) - Fabulous Cresswell! We had a lovely holiday staying at Anchor Cottage. The village of Cresswell is a little gem. On arrival the provision of tea, coffee, milk, a delicious cake and especially the local gin marmalade were much appreciated. The cottage itself is one of the best we have stayed in, in terms of spaciousness, equipment, general high standards and its superb location. We highly recommend it.

Pele View Cottage (September 2023) Our little oasis! This was our second stay at Pele View and, just like the first time, we had a fantastic time. The cottage is beautiful, very spacious and immaculately clean and everything you could possibly need is there. The local area is spectacular, with beautiful beaches and charming little villages and there are some excellent eateries. I think it says it all when we have only been home one day and have already booked a return visit.

Anchor Cottage (September 2023) Our 4th visit, and lived up once again to expectations. The cottage is welcoming, very comfortable and in a wonderful position. We spent hours sitting on the bench looking at the sea, sky, birds, seals....and one wonderful night, the aurora borealis! Lots of places to visit in the area, never at a loss for things to do. The owners put so. much thought into making the cottage homely, with lots of information of things to do, places to eat. we can't praise it highly enough. Fabulous!

Pele View Cottage (September 2023) A little gem! This was our fourth visit to Pele View and we absolutely adore it! It is a beautiful well equipped cottage in a great location and we have booked again for next year, a September visit has become part of our yearly routine.

Pele View Cottage (September 2023) A truly memorable stay at Pele View Cottage. This is a superb cottage, spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. The situation is perfect, with lovely sea views and a short walk from the nearby sandy beach. With a welcome pack and a wealth of information available on the local area, we had everything we needed to enjoy the local area and make the most of our visit.

Pele View Cottage (August 2023) Perfect seaside cottage. We had a fantastic time at Pele Cottage and would highly recommend it. Its position is perfect and Druridge Bay is beautiful with its 7 miles of empty beaches and dunes. The cottage itself was very well equipped, clean and comfortable and the owners had thought of everything. We enjoyed having a look at all the information made available to us and took advantage of some of the recommendations. We loved walking along the beach to the Drift Cafe and having breakfast there and also sitting on the top of the dunes and taking in the stunning scenery. We had a very happy time and will most definitely be back!

Anchor Cottage (August 2023) Serenity by the sea! Our second stay at the luxurious Anchor cottage was superb. Relaxing, amazing spot by the sea watching the tides, birds, the views from inside and out. Cresswell ices on the doorstep, full moon, sea dips and an amazing Greek meal at Mykonos at the Drift.

Pele View Cottage (August 2023) Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Very well equipped and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Pele View Cottage (July 2023) We had an absolutely amazing time at Pele View Cottage. It is exactly as the listing describes. The cottage is perfectly located for the beach, which is great for families. The cottage was spotless on arrival, and there was even a chocolate cake waiting for us! The hosts were very easy to communicate with. We will definitely stay here the next time we are in Northumberland.

Anchor Cottage (June 2023) Amazing. Wow! Our first visit to Anchor Cottage but we hope to return. The cottage is idyllic. It was so pretty, immaculately clean, with comfy beds, and well equipped and the location and sea views are to die for!!! The owner's attention to detail and providing information is 5 star. Thank you for all your recommendations. One week wasn't sufficient!

Anchor Cottage (June 2023) An idyllic holiday…. Another wonderful week at Anchor cottage! The cottage has everything that is needed for a relaxing holiday, and the views are spectacular. The location is great for exploring Northumberland but I just love spending time walking on the beach and exploring the dunes, so no need to venture too far when it is on the doorstep! Thank you - a truly relaxing holiday and I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Pele View Cottage (May 2023) Our fourth visit to Pele View Cottage and we will be back again, the cottage is lovely and there is so much to do in Northumberland whether it is a walk along Druridge bay to the Drift cafe and back or further afield to Newcastle or a boat trip to the Farne islands. The cottage is well equipped and cosy and if you're into birds watch for the barn owl which we managed to see near Druridge pools.

Anchor Cottage (May 2023) This was our 3rd visit to Anchor Cottage, and it is still as amazing as ever. Immaculately presented and maintained. The outlook from the front and the back of the cottage are stunning with views across the bay towards the beach from the bench at the rear. Ideally located to explore the beautiful Northumberland coastline and inland. The hosts are exceptional with useful information provided before check-in and making sure everything was OK on arrival and departure. Couldn't ask for more. We have already booked our 4th and 5th visits to Anchor Cottage and cannot wait to return. Highly recommended.

Anchor Cottage (May 2023) - another brilliant week in this magical place. We have just returned from our third stay at Anchor Cottage. For us this cottage ticks all our boxes it is beautifully equipped, very comfortable in an incomparable position overlooking the sea and is all we could ever wish for. It is a wonderful location to explore the Northumberland coast. As keen birdwatchers it is brilliant to be able to watch Eider duck from the kitchen window and its proximity to other bird reserves is ideal. We have already booked two further weeks next year so that tells you how much we like it there! The owners are perfect hosts and have made the cottage a home from home equipped to satisfy all our needs.

Anchor Cottage (April 2023) What an absolutely glorious week we had, so much so that we have booked to return later this year already! Sunrises sitting on the bench watching the birds and listening to the waves was a wonderful reset opportunity. Lots of information from very friendly owners about places to visit, and we ran out of time to do everything! It's a beautiful location and we loved Northumberland as a whole: sea trips, castles, stately homes, beautiful beaches, forest, dark sky Observatory, and more. We felt comfortable, relaxed and totally at home in Anchor Cottage and highly recommend. Can't wait to go back

Pele View Cottage (April 2023) The cottage was spacious and there was everything in there that you could possibly want. The location was beautiful, with a stunning beach a two minute walk away. The views from the garden were amazing. This part of the country is so beautiful and Pele View Cottage is an ideal place to explore from. Would come back again for sure. Thanks to our hosts.

Anchor Cottage (April 2023) This was a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. It was extremely well equipped and a nice space to live in for 2 couples. The view from the kitchen was gorgeous - in all weathers - and full of light. The garden in front was full of colour with a lovely view to Pele tower. It was very clean and tastefully decorated, with a very practical layout. A very beautiful and thoughtful renovation. The hosts were friendly, helpful and proactive. We love this area and this cottage and would love to return.

Pele View (March 2023 )We had the most wonderful stay at Pele view cottage with our goldendoodle who loved the daily beach walks. The owners are fantastic hosts, friendly, informative. The cottage is very spacious and we spent cosy evenings reading our books and relaxing. The kitchen facilities are fantastic and a delight to cook in. There is everything you might need in the cottage from dvds, plenty of storage space, log burner and fairy lights round the fire. The welcome flowers, cake, milk, tea and coffee demonstrate the thoughtfulness of the hosts. We visited Amble, Seahouses, Newbiggin and the country park, each one a fantastic outing. Thoroughly recommend you book somewhere else so this is available for us when we go next ????. Joking aside this is our new happy place and we can’t wait to book our next visit.

Anchor Cottage (March 2023) This was our second visit to Anchor Cottage and Pele View Cottage and we have already booked to return next year. Both cottages are beautifully presented and equipped for a week of simple luxury right on the sea's edge. The location is perfect for beach and dune walks, bird spotting and just gazing out to sea. To lie in bed and see the sunrise over the sea is a delight. Every day the beach is different depending on the tides and the wind. The ever changing sky and sea is mesmerising. We even saw some brave souls in swimming. This time we drove to the nearest metro station one evening and went into Newcastle to the theatre. We visited the mining museum at Woodhorn, well worth doing. We absolutely recommend this little bit of heaven.

Pele View Cottage (March 2023) This was our second visit to Pele View Cottage, and we are not alone. You stay once, and you just want to keep coming back. It’s a very special place, located right next to the most beautiful sandy and natural beach, which goes on for miles and miles…The cottage itself is lovely, with everything you need; comfortable and very well located to explore the Northumberland coast.

Anchor Cottage (March 2023) We wanted a cottage with a sea view and Anchor Cottage certainly delivered that and more. The bench to sit on with a cup of tea and a slice of cake while watching the tide come and go. Bracing walks on the beach to work up an appetite (for the Drift Café). A clean, well equipped and comfortable cottage to return to with central heating and two log burners. Fantastic sunrises to wake up to. A great base for visiting the many places of interest in the locality. The owners provided lots of useful information prior to our visit, alongside that available in the cottage itself. We will certainly be making a return visit.

Pele View Cottage (March 2023) We had a fabulous weekend - miles of beautiful beach just outside the front door!

Pele View Cottage (February 2023) We’re just back from a fabulous 4 night break at the cottage and it was everything we hoped it would be. It’s spotless, cosy, well-equipped and best of all for us (with dogs) right on the beach. The little touches left by the owners were well received too - cake and flowers for us and treats for the hounds! We’ll definitely be back, we’ve found the perfect little hideaway for us.

Pele View Cottage (February 2023) Definitely 5⭐️ cottage, with an outstanding location looking out over Druridge Bay. Very comfortable accommodation with the wood burning stove making it warm and cozy. Felt very luxurious to come back to after brisk beach walks in February. We’d love to book again.

Anchor Cottage (February 2023) Absolutely loved this cottage. Cresswell is ideally located for days out to different places along the Northumberland coast. The owners were extremely helpful in sending some information prior to our stay on things to do nearby and places to eat. Communication was excellent in the lead up to our stay and we felt that if we needed to, we could have got in touch with any queries. First class hosts and accommodation, we will definitely be looking to return in future!

Anchor Cottage (February 2023) is a beautiful holiday home with fantastic views. We loved everything about the cottage and the location, right next to the sea, it was perfect. Fully equipped with everything we needed and very warm and cosy, especially when the log burner was lit and the wind was whistling outside.

Pele View Cottage (November 2022) Beautiful views, minutes from quiet and pristine beaches. Excellent proactive hosts. Clean tidy house with everything you could require. Highly recommend the local Drift cafe, a walk on the beach, fish and chips and back to the comfy lounge and log burner, perfect!

Pele View Cottage (November 2022) was perfection and even better than the photos! We had an incredible few days making memories. The cottage is idyllic, well equipped and impeccably clean! Exceeded our expectations and really hoping to come back! We were a little nervous about getting fish and chips at the near by Drift Cafe (Seahouses is a family tradition!) but we needn’t have been! They were delicious. Waking up to this view! Dreamy!

Anchor Cottage (November 2022) Great cottage and location Great stylish cottage in a wonderful location - one of the best cottages we have stopped in! Spotlessly clean and well equipped with little treats for when you arrive of cake, jam, milk and flowers. Location is great for exploring the surrounding area or just walking along the magnificent beach which is right outside. Would certainly recommend the cottage as a place to stay.

Perfectly peaceful break at Pele View Cottage! (October 2022) Our second stay in this lovely cottage by the sea. Great for walks along the beach, with glorious sunrises. The cottage is very well equipped, feels much more like a home rather than a rental with the lovely decor. The welcome touches very much appreciated and communications with the owners very easy. A superb location to do as little or as much as you feel like. We like it so much we've booked for next year!

Anchor Cottage (October 2022) - Perfect seaside cottage! We stayed at Anchor Cottage for a week in mid-October. The cottage was spotless and perfectly situated overlooking the gorgeous beach at the south end of Druridge Bay. The sea views from the perfectly equipped kitchen (and from the bedrooms) were made even more special with the rise and fall of the tides over the rocky foreshore. The owners had thought of everything and offered loads of information about the local area. It's a great base for touring the Northumberland coast, but most importantly it's a special place to relax. We will visit again!

Beautiful Anchor Cottage (October 2022) in stunning location. Just returned from a short break at Anchor cottage and I can honestly say this is the best cottage we have stayed in. The cottage is stylishly decorated and very well equipped. It is spotlessly clean with quality bedding and towels etc. The view from the cottage is stunning and you can walk for miles on the lovely stretch of beach which is right outside. We had some rain during our stay so spent evenings in with the log burner keeping us cozy and warm. The homemade cake on arrival was a very welcome treat. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this cottage.

Pele View Cottage (September 2022) - An exceptionally comfortable and well equipped cottage. The location is perfect with stunning coastal walks and beautiful countryside on your doorstep. You will not be disappointed and you will leave with great memories whatever time of year you visit.

Anchor Cottage (September 2022) We have stayed three times, something we have never done elsewhere. Attentive hosts who take great care to make each visit special. The cottage is really well equipped and very clean and the sea views from the windows at the rear are stunning. We have really enjoyed our holiday and especially recommend the fact that you can walk for miles on one of Northumberland's fantastic beaches from the front door! Cake at The Drift Cafe also helps!

Anchor Cottage (September 2022)Wow! We do not normally leave reviews. However, we can honestly say that Anchor Cottage is the cleanest, most freshly decorated, well equipped cottage that we have ever stayed in. It is like a home rather than a base from which to holiday from. The owners are so personable, providing heaps of useful information and tips. We found this to be extremely helpful and time saving, particularly as this was our first visit to Northumberland. The cottage itself is simply Wow! Cosy, homely, fully equipped and in a stunning location ... made to feel like we were the first and only guests is testament to how much the owners care about the cottage and each individual guest experience. We loved Northumberland and Anchor Cottage and we definitely hope to return very soon.

Anchor Cottage (September 2022) 5* experience! At Anchor Cottage! What a beautiful cottage, spacious, comfortable, well equipped and in an absolutely delightful location, right on the edge of the beautiful beach at Druridge Bay. We woke up to beautiful sunrises across the sea every morning and watched the amazing stars every night. The cottage was so good that we actually stayed at home on a couple of days, just venturing out to sit and read by the sea wall and to eat at the highly recommended Drift cafe! The cottage is also well placed to visit the more famous Northumberland locations like Lindisfarne and Craster and there were many great places to eat and drink nearby. We saw seals, dolphins, rabbits and even a weasel. We will definitely be looking to book our second visit very soon.

Pele View Cottage (August 2022) Fantastic cottage best we have ever stayed in! We have had a fantastic family holiday here the first in three years. The cottage is absolutely beautiful everything you could wish for and more special touches like the chocolate cake and flowers on arrival The views are wonderful my granddaughter loved the beach and rock pools also the ice cream shop is a must The highlight of my daughters holiday was seeing the dolphins in the bay. Lots of places to visit or just to relax on the beach was wonderful Thanks to the owners for their kind messages and keeping in touch.

Pele View Cottage (July 2022) Truly a superb cottage, with stunning views of the Northumberland coast. Pele View Cottage is located on the coastline in the small village of Cresswell. It is in a wonderful setting with amazing views of the huge beach. The cottage is a real home from home, with everything provided for a comfortable stay. We totally relaxed and enjoyed days out at Cragside National Trust property, Dunstanburgh Castle and lots of walking along the amazing local beaches. We had such a brilliant time that we have already booked for next year.

Pele View Cottage (June 2022) Our second visit to Pele View Cottage!! A lovely place to spend time in the peaceful village of Cresswell. The cottage is beautiful!! Everything you need for the three of us - our Parson Russell loves the beach and we enjoyed our early morning walks beachcombing for sea glass. The sunrises were amazing. Thank you!

Anchor Cottage (April 2022) Total relaxation - What a wonderful week we had at Anchor Cottage. We felt totally relaxed and didn't want to leave. The views are amazing and we sat for hours just watching the sea from the bedrooms. Binoculars are supplied so you can try and spot the wildlife. Everything you could ever need is there for you and a welcome cake went down very well with a cuppa upon our arrival. All the furnishing and beds are comfortable and the log burning stoves gave a real homely feel. Just a couple of minutes walk to the quiet beach. We walked along and through the sand dunes to the drift cafe, where we ate several times. A no.1 bus serves the village and we used it several times to get about. Quite an adventure. We are hoping to visit again and one of our party has already booked again for later in the year. Can thoroughly recommend it."

Anchor Cottage - (April 2022) Whenever we show friends our pictures of the views from lovely Anchor Cottage they all want to know when to book! For a self catering holiday the kitchen is really fully equipped with great care taken to ensure everything is in excellent order. We love walking out of the door a few steps to the wonderful bay and having coffee on the bench watching the terns and gannets dive for fish. Eating out in Amble with local fish in abundance is also a treat. The owners are genuinely solicitous of their visitors which is much appreciated and quite rare. We are going back again later in the year and that's the best endorsement we can give.

Pele View Cottage (March 2022) We have just had a wonderful family holiday at Pele View Cottage. The cottage itself is very clean and provides everything required for a perfect holiday, including sea views from one side and fields/Pele Tower on the other! Excellent hosts who provided very useful information prior to our arrival and kept in touch during our stay too. We really appreciated the little touches upon our arrival, it became a home from home for us instantly. We cannot recommend Pele View Cottage highly enough and we hope to return again soon.

Pele View Cottage (March 2022) Pure joy. Views spectacular from cottage and bench. Walking distance to beach. Very easy to find location and parking. Pele View Cottage is home from home. Fire warms place very quickly!

Anchor Cottage (March 2022) A great welcome with flowers, cake, milk and local jam. The cottage was immaculate, very well equipped with lots of useful extras, such a comfy bed. The view from the kitchen and bedrooms is impossible to ignore, gazing out to sea watching for wildlife.

Pele View Cottage (March 2022) We loved every bit of our 4 night stay at Pele View Cottage, from the wow when you walk in down to every detail. The cottage is warm, spacious, comfortable and cosy. The beds are really comfy with lovely bedding and cushions/throws. It was just the two of us but we did each sneak a sleep in the other bedroom to lie and listen to the seabirds and waves! The house was perfectly clean and has everything you need. When we were worn out by the sea air from being on the beach or just sitting on the seat with the wonderful view watching (and listening) to the tide roll in and out, we adjourned to the comfy settees & very lovely view of the Pele Tower as the sun went down, cosy by the woodburning stove. We were blessed with lovely weather and apart from 2 trips out to Amble and Craster, just made the most of switching off from the world and the wonderful location. Highlights of the week were the curlews, unpolluted sea air and catching a snap of Vera being filmed on the beach!

Pele View Cottage (March 2022) Wow! What a location! The sea view, closeness to the pristine sandy beach and some great sunrises to wake up to meant it was just the perfect weekend to relax. Pele View cottage is beautiful. Solid stone built, log fire, exceptionally equipped, everything you could need and all perfectly placed for day trips. Will definitely be back.

Anchor Cottage (March 2022) Thanks for a wonderful stay at Anchor Cottage. Wish we lived there - it’s cosy homely décor and sea views are perfection! Just what we needed for a nice, peaceful break away from work. Washing up to those sea views was bliss and not having to set an alarm. Coming back to the cosy log burner and great DVD selection after walks on the beach was lovely. Worth visiting Amble and Alnwick Gardens, Treehouse Restaurant and The Drift Café. We didn’t need to put the log burner on as it wasn’t even cold- we did so well with the weather. Thanks for the chocolate cake and the marmalade too! Such a lovely touch. Sat watching the waves from the bench with our Cresswell Ices ice creams was lovely in the crisp March sunshine. We honestly couldn’t have asked for ant more from a break away and we hope to book again next year – definitely recommending to our pals. Thanks for being just a text away – nothing was too much trouble.

Pele View Cottage (March 2022) We’ve just returned from our stay in the wonderful Pele View Cottage for our long awaited trip to Northumberland with our English Setter. Pele View Cottage is the most perfect base from which to explore the stunning coastline. The cottage is simply amazing, with everything you could possibly need. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and beautifully presented. Its location is fantastic. To begin each day with the beautiful sea views, then walking along the wonderful sandy beach to the Drift cafe for breakfast, before setting off for the days sightseeing, was better than we could have wished for. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Pele View Cottage. Thank you for letting us share your little piece of paradise and for being such perfect hosts.

Pele View Cottage (March 2022) If you are going to this stunning cottage you really are in for a treat. The photos give you a taste of what you will experience but they can’t let you know the full story of the place. The cottage and the setting is just stunning and sitting on the bench overlooking the sea is a treat. The owners couldn’t be more helpful and their attention to detail and the comfort that brings to guests is amazing. Thank you for sharing your amazing property.

Anchor Cottage (February 2022) Back again for our second visit to the amazing Anchor Cottage. It did not disappoint, it is still as lovely as everyone else describes - relaxing, peaceful and an ideal place to explore the area. We once again loved our walks on the beach and lunch at the Drift Café - if you’ve not been before it’s well worth a visit, they do delicious food! On our travels we also found Morwick Dairy Ice Creams in Acklington NE65 9DG – if you like ice cream, it’s well worth a visit, but not forgetting the local Cresswell Ices along the road that are lovely too. Looking forward to visit number 3 soon. Thank you to the hosts and their team for a fantastic stay and a beautiful, clean cottage.

Pele View Cottage (Feb 2022) A peaceful weekend break in a lovely cottage. The location is fantastic, right on the beach and lots to explore within a short drive. The cottage itself was beautiful - very cosy with the wood burner, exceptionally well maintained and super clean. The cottage is well equipped and we were made to feel very welcome with great communication from the owners, and a lovely cake and flowers waiting for us when we arrived. Would not hesitate to recommend and we hope to return soon. We loved the cottage - even better in person than the pictures! The high quality of linens etc was appreciated and the styling of the cottage really made it feel homely.

Anchor Cottage (February 2022) We’re so glad to have come across Anchor Cottage – what a perfect place to unwind and recharge the batteries! From the delicious cake and marmalade, as well as flowers on arrival to the immaculately maintained cottage where everything has been thought of. We couldn’t have wished for more. And of course the ever changing sea views are just amazing whatever the weather – we even chose to wash up rather than use the dishwasher so as to look out to sea! Thank you for creating a little piece of heaven!

Pele View Cottage (Jan 2022) What a location- right by the beach with stunning views all day long. This is an outstanding cottage in a perfect beach location. We hope to return next year. We spent 4 nights here and wished we could stay longer. It is warm, comfortable, well equipped, immaculately clean and an absolutely pleasure to stay in. A place to relax and enjoy just being there. Views from the kitchen sink don't come any better than this! The owners, were welcoming and helpful and let us see round the equally gorgeous Anchor Cottage as well. At least twice a day we went for walks on the magnificent sandy beach. The waves thundering onto the shore are quite something. The sand dunes are fun to walk through and would be a great place for hide and seek. We were lucky enough to have sunny very cold days. The frozen sand dunes were like walking in snow. We visited Hauxley Bay bird hides, well worth doing. The cafe there was good with great views across the lake. The Drift Cafe is near the cottage and has good food and a friendly welcome.

Pele View Cottage (Dec 2021)  - Beautiful Cottage! Myself, my wife and our little dog stayed for 3 nights over new year. The pictures do not do the cottage justice. It is lovely and very well finished. It was immaculately clean and has everything you could need during your stay. It is very close to the beach for long walks with the dog and a very relaxing break. The Drift Cafe is also close by for a spot of lunch. Amble is also a 10 minute drive away and has good places to eat. The hosts were very welcoming and left goodies for our arrival which was much appreciated . We can’t wait to stay again !

Anchor Cottage (Dec 2021) - We have just returned from a lovely few days at Anchor Cottage. The location is second to none and everything had been thought of to make our stay comfortable and hassle-free.
We were very lucky with our December weather, and enjoyed uninterrupted sunshine, but the cottage would be a great place to stay in any weather. The views are spectacular and it is warm and cosy, the perfect place to which to return after a walk or day out. We will definitely be booking again.

Pele View Cottage (Dec 2021) - We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful stay at this beachside cottage.
We wanted a location for a tranquil stay without any compromise on the accommodation. The cottage we booked was perfect, just a few metres walk to the beach where we loved our daily walks with our dogs. The cottage is spacious, very tastefully furnished and exceptionally and reassuringly clean. We were welcomed with treats on our arrival including chocolate cake, marmalade, milk and doggy treats which our fur babies loved.
Information and communication from the owners was helpful and responsive.
I would definitely recommend a stay here and we are looking forward to returning for another stay soon.

Anchor Cottage (Nov 2021) - Northumberland is a wild and magical place in every season and the people who live there always make you feel so welcome, and we leave a little bit more of our hearts there every time we leave for home. Anchor Cottage is the perfect base from which you can explore it all! The photos do not do it justice - it really is even better than it looks! - and they can't articulate the feeling you get every time you wake up and look out to sea, opening the French doors so that the sea breeze just about reaches you in your cosy and comfortable bed. On top of the stunning location, it is spotlessly clean and has all the things you'll need to just stay there for the whole stay if you like. The Drift Cafe just a little down the road is a gem as well - I have never had a Key Lime Pie like theirs! All in all, it's a truly unique and restorative place. Thank you - we'll be back if we can get booked in! :)

Pele View Cottage (Nov 2021) - simply stunning! Having just returned from an amazing week at Pele View Cottage, there aren’t enough adjectives to use to describe our time there. The highest standard of accommodation, well stocked kitchen, luxurious bedding…..and then there’s the view…..Simply stunning cottage and ideally located to access the scenery of Northumberland. We have rebooked for March…..

Pele View Cottage  (Nov 2021)- Cosy cottage with everything you need and more. We were 3 adults and 2 dogs and there was plenty of space. Log burner was really cosy, comfy sofas, well equipped kitchen, good shower, comfy beds. The view, oh my, yards from the most stunning beach, the sunsets were amazing. We loved our stay here. Hosts were really great and made sure we had all we needed and loads of information on what to do in the area and very kindly left us cake, marmalade and doggy treats which was most appreciated. Area is very quiet and peaceful, if you are looking for a great base in a great location then this is for you. Fabulous.

Pele View Cottage (Oct 2021) - What a wonderful place to stay. The owners have created a very stylish house and the experience was lovely. Everything was absolutely spotlessly clean; the bed was very comfortable; the shower was perfect; being able to take a mug of tea, sit on the bench out back under a blanket and look down at the waves crashing on the rocks a few feet below was so relaxing; and our dog adored being taken to the miles of beach only a few yards away so often. The kitchen is undoubtedly the best-equipped that we've experienced in a rental, and the ability to sit in front of the log burner at night was very cosy indeed. The owners sent us tons of suggestions for things to do, and we had a wonderful week in Northumberland. We'll certainly be back!

Anchor Cottage (Sep 2021) - The quality of the cottage and the views are both superb - this is an ideal place to enjoy the wonderful Druridge Bay and from which to explore the magnificent Northumberland coast. Being greeted with a chocolate cake is an added bonus! We've been coming to this part of the world for many years but this cottage is by far the best in terms of equipment, comfort and the care taken by the owners. We would highly recommend Anchor Cottage.

Pele View Cottage (Sep 2021) is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. This is the second time we have stayed here and have already booked a week next year, need we say more!

Pele View Cottage - We are all on a quest for happiness. Some seem to be doing a little better than others, although don’t believe a word you read on social media (except for this review). If your quest has hit a few speed bumps in recent times, then come to Pele View Cottage. Here you will feel like you’re making progress. It’s possibly the most lovingly looked after cottage in the UK. Obviously it’s managed by elves or something. As soon you as you step inside you feel at home, the stone walls exude a warm embrace. Everything is on your side here, from the sea light pouring through the huge kitchen window to beautifully organised cutlery drawers; from the blissfully comfortable double bed to the wonderful wood burning stove. Even the haunted Pele Tower opposite beams at you with time honoured benevolence. This is a special place - not fancy, definitely not chintzy - but special. So rest weary traveller. Who knows where happiness lies, or even what it is, but at Pele View you can spend many contented days pondering this tricky issue, sat with a glass of wine on your own little seat, staring out at your own private sea.

Pele View Cottage (July 2021) - stunning cottage in one of the UK's most beautiful locations.... A very recently renovated cottage, finished to an extremely high standard and set in a stunning location. The views from the cottage and garden seat across the bay are the best and with the recent hot weather could mistake it for the Med!...but more homely. Just 10 minutes from the cottage is the Drift café, perfect for breakfast, or lunch. Fabulous home cooked food and something for everyone including those with specific dietary needs. Cresswell is a great place to discover this wonderful part of the British coastline, the best beaches and the most interesting wildlife. Terns, dolphins and seals to name just three. The cottage is designed for comfort, perfect after a long day on the beach or walking the coast and discovering the castles and history that are in abundance around Northumberland. The through lounge and central stairwell divide the spacious downstairs area and the master bedroom large enough to be able to relax and take in the views of Pele Tower opposite. Really, its the perfect place to relax, enjoy the surrounding area and finish with a glass of wine on your very own garden bench.

Anchor Cottage (July 2021) - a little piece of heaven. My husband, son and I spent a lovely week here at the start of July. The cottage itself was so clean and had everything we needed to make ourselves right at home, the welcome gifts were very much appreciated…the marmalade was the real star, thank you. We spent hours on the bench overlooking the sea, just absorbed in its natural rhythm, it is so relaxing. Beach walks took up a large part of each day too, what a luxury to be able to feel the sand between your toes in just two minutes. We have begun our own collection of sea glass and pottery! The Drift Cafe was just perfectly placed for a morning coffee (and bacon roll!) and we enjoyed meals at the Widdrington Inn (fab Sunday lunch) and at the Old Boathouse in Amble. All in all we didn’t want to leave and only hope that we may be able to return in the future - it’s a very special place. Communication with the owners was also excellent, they have created something really wonderful at Anchor Cottage.

Pele View Cottage (July 2021) is a delight, we thought the camera would lie and it would be a tiny cottage but it's exceptionally spacious and can accommodate a family or 2 couples easily. The cottage is so well equipped, and spotless, everything you could possibly need for an extended stay or just a week is there. The furnishings are to a very high standard and a great deal of thought has been given to compliment the cottage making it very cosy. That aside the location is stunning, overlooking miles of unspoilt sandy beach for a morning walk and coffee at the Drift Cafe just behind the dunes. It's an ideal location to spend the day exploring Northumberland or just relaxing with a book on the bench at the top of the cliff with a glass of wine, which we did most evenings. The owners are great hosts and sent lots of information on the local area before our visit to ensure we had the best time and sent the occasional text to make sure everything was OK with the cottage and if we had any questions. On arrival we were welcomed with a delicious cake, homemade marmalade and fresh flowers and packets of treats for our two whippets. If you're looking for a relaxing week or a base from which to visit the beautiful coastal towns and villages and must go sights such as Hadrian's Wall look no further. An absolute gem.

Anchor Cottage (July 2021) is an absolute gem for a holiday by the sea. We spent a lovely week enjoying the cottage and the beautiful area. It’s a charming traditional fisherman’s cottage, refurbished and extended to a very high standard to provide everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. The location is stunning, overlooking a wide expanse of sea, and it’s easy access to the long sandy expanse of Duridge Bay. If it’s a little breezy looking out over the sea from the bench at the back, the front garden is a real sun trap, sheltered and private surrounded by lovely plants. You don’t have to travel far to find lots of interesting places in the area, Amble (great takeaway fish and chips at the Harbour Fish Bar), Warkworth Castle (and riverside walk to be rowed across to the Hermitage), Alnwick (the castle, riverside walk and Barter Books, the extensive second-hand bookshop and cafe in the old station) and traditional Newbiggin by the Sea - amazing working vintage tractors. A great area for birdwatchers, sea watching from the cottage bench, and Cresswell Pool just a stroll away past the unmissable Drift Cafe, for breeding avocets and other waders and ducks, terns refreshing themselves, tree sparrows, barn owls and brown hares, and more. We loved the Puffin Cruise from Amble Harbour to view the seabird colonies on Coquet Island, the air and sea full of puffins, guillemots, terns, fulmars and kittiwakes, as well as plenty of seals keeping an eye on us. All in all a lovely cottage and lovely location.

Pele View Cottage (June 2021) is a piece of heaven on earth. The cottage is amazing. The welcome gift of chocolate cake, jam and dog treats was very much appreciated. The cottage is equipped to a very high standard. The views from the garden are fantastic, as are the sunsets. Thank you so much for a fantastic holiday, also for sending my dress back which I left in the wardrobe.

Pele View Cottage (June 2021) Will definitely be returning to Pele View Cottage. What can we say? This cottage and its environs are absolute perfection. The location is stunning, backing right onto the sea, with a fantastic beach within walking distance which is perfect for rock pooling with the children. The cottage itself is kitted out to the highest of standards and was absolutely pristine upon arrival. The view out of the kitchen window over a carefully tended rockery, is the stuff of dreams. In short, this place is an absolute tonic for the soul - a place to remember what life is really about! Out two young children have left Pele Cottage with the best of memories - thank you so much.

Pele View Cottage (May 2021) Amazing location, peace, tranquility, space, miles of beautiful golden sands, dunes coves and bays to explore and fantastic beach combing for seaglass and pottery. Fantastic for dogs, Sid (terrier) has expressed his interest in returning to meet up with his new found friends (especially Einstein)....... Beautiful accommodation immaculately presented, thoughtful gifts of cake, milk, dog treats, flowers to greet us on arrival. We know the area well so did not feel the need to go off exploring - we successfully managed to do nothing all week except beach walk, read, rest and eat ice-cream from the ice-cream parlour in the village! Lots of bench banter with the two lovely ladies next door. All just what the doctor ordered - and more, we definitely recommend and will be returning.

Pele View Cottage (May 2021) The cottage was really cosy and brilliantly appointed- had everything you need when on holiday. The owners were well organised and all the arrangements were excellent and we really appreciated the welcome text to see everything was OK. We also enjoyed the welcome goodies- flowers, marmalade and chocolate cake( which our grandson who visited us said was “very yummy!”) The cottage is spacious but very comfortable and the whole place was spotlessly clean which was excellent. Being only a short distance to the bay we enjoyed walks on the beach and drinks on our own bench watching the sea/ waves come in All in all a great place to stay and explore the area. We would recommend the cottage highly.

Pele View Cottage (April 2021)We've just returned from a wonderful family weekend at Pele View Cottage. The location is so very beautiful - wonderful views, lovely unspoilt beaches, so much wildlife to see. The uncrowded beaches and dunes here are great to spend a whole day on... loads of space for beach games, rock pools to explore at low tide and a great spot for bodyboarding or surfing. Hire is available from Adventure Northumberland if needed. Lovely cycling country round here as well. The cottage itself is finished to a really high standard and has loads of space to spare. Very comfortable beds, spotlessly clean throughout, fast WiFi, very well equipped kitchen (so often a downfall if you like to cook!), great customer support from the owners, quality furnishings. Beautiful place, and such a pleasure to spend time here. Will definitely return. We've holidayed in quite a few cottages, and this is certainly the best we've experienced

Anchor Cottage (April 2021) What a wonderful cottage with great sea views. Immaculately clean which is very welcome during these times. A lovely welcome pack and great owners who checked once we had arrived to ensure everything was okay. Excellent location to chill\relax on the beach or venture further to explore the superb Northumberland coast line.

Pele View Cottage -We are just about to book our third visit to Pele View Cottage so I think you can see that we really like the cottage and the surrounding area. There are interesting sandy beaches in both directions and the rocks opposite the cottage attract a variety of birds including curlew, oystercatcher, redshank, turnstone and sandpiper that I could identify. We saw dolphins between Craster and Dunstanburgh castle and I believe they have been seen from the cottage. The cottage is recently refurbished and has everything that we needed it is practical and comfortable. It is a great place for a relaxing holiday but also not far from Newcastle and we have even had a day in Edinburgh by train from Alnmouth.

Anchor Cottage - If you want to feel at ease and relax as soon as you walk through the door this is the cottage for you. Anchor Cottage is the perfect escape away by the sea where you can unwind in the luxury of the cottage and peaceful surroundings. Immaculately clean upon our arrival with the added touch of a delicious chocolate cake and some local homemade jam was a delight. The sea view from the kitchen windows are amazing, and the addition of the Anchor Cottage bench over looking the water allows you sit and while away the hours. The fabulous beach is only a minutes walk away and perfect for long walks. Be sure to stop off at The Drift Cafe for a drink and a bite to eat on the walk. The owners of Anchor Cottage were the perfect hosts and messaged us to ensure we had arrived safely and settled in without any problems. They even wished us a safe journey home before we left. We would highly recommend this cottage and we will be returning in the future.

Pele View Cottage - So many good things to say about our stay at Pele View cottage, We are still here as I write this, fire lit, dog at my feet, wine in hand curled up on the sofa after our last day walking down the beautiful beaches. The cottage itself is tremendous, really homely and welcoming, it has everything you could possibly need. From cosying up in front of the fire to sitting down for dinner at a grand table. Didn’t open a cupboard without finding what I was looking for. A lot of thought has gone into making sure that guests have everything they need! We brought our dog and it was great for him too, great porch to dry him off and lovely tiled floor, but without feeling like a “doggy cottage” we would stay here with no dog no question. The area is amazing, I was brought up a few miles away from Cresswell at Ellington but had forgotten how much there is to do in the region. The beaches are brilliant, castles, boat trips, Roman forts the borders. Brilliant. The owners have been great to deal with, saving dates whilst we worked around various things. Checking everything is ok and leaving lots of clear helpful instructions. If you have read this far, you can see we totally recommend! We will be back.

Anchor Cottage -This beautiful place, Anchor Cottage, was just what we needed after the year we have had so far. Great comms prior to arrival and then lovely thoughtful surprise in the kitchen on arrival. We felt immediately at home - so warm and cosy - just loved the amount of light in the kitchen afforded by the bank of windows and the conservatory style roof above - incredibly fitted out with all white goods and kitchen equipment. Really enjoyed cooking dinners in the evening and chilling on the comfy sofas with blankets watching our DVDs with a little glass of vino. Bath downstairs and shower upstairs worked out really well too. Great long walks along the beach to the nature reserve as well as to the Drift Cafe - amazing pizzas and cakes. Visited Craster to walk to Dunstanburgh Castle followed by fish & chips at The Jolly Fisherman, hour drive up to Holy Island with Bamburgh Castle on way home, NT Cragside was amazing and Alnwick Castle & Gardens too. So much to do as well as seeing Amble and Warksworth on our last day. Tracked down the Mad Jam Lady in Amble for more of the Gin Marmalade too. We will definitely return - feels like our second home and just love it.

Obviously a great deal of care and thought has gone into making this cottage as comfortable as it is. Beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished it has everything we needed for our weeks stay.Perfect for us. Added to this is the location, backing directly on to a sea view. Sitting on the bench looking out to sea and watching birds was an absolute pleasure. Thanks, we are already looking forward to our next visit.

A lovely cottage set in the most beautiful location. Well equipped and comfortable with stunning sea views. We have enjoyed so many things, from seeing the lights of the fishing boats in the early hours and taking our morning cuppa to the bench by the sea, to enjoying long beach walks and coming back to light the log burner and pour ourselves a glass of wine .........bliss!! This has been our first stay here and we have been extremely impressed, not only with the cottage but also the excellent communications with the owners, who we were fortunate enough to meet while we were there. We could not have wished for more and will most certainly make a return visit !

This cottage certainly lived up to the photos and reviews that we’d looked at. The personal contact from the owners was the best we’ve ever had with a phone call the day before we left and emails on our return. The place was absolutely spotless and the roses on the table together with Gin Marmalade (who knew) were a special touch. There was everything we needed in this excellently renovated and furnished cottage. The surrounding area is so beautiful with miles of beaches to hand and of course the rest of Northumberland just up the road. We will certainly stay here again, just don’t want to sing it’s praises too highly or we might not be able to get in!

Pele View cottage was an awesome holiday property, wonderfully furnished with everything you would need for a break. Easily one of the very best we have stayed in. The location was excellent and Cresswell, with the beach so close was perfect for walks with our dog. We would happily come back one day.

There are times when you travel somewhere for the first time when expectations are raised above reality, not here and if anything quite the opposite. The cottage is in the perfect position with all you could wish for. From the kitchen fabulous sea views and should you get bored of that view (as if!) from the front a lovely garden to sit and read or watch the bees and butterflies going about their business among the beautifully laid out garden. Internally the cottage character has been maintained but with all the modern amenities and home comforts you would expect. Having read the history of the refurbishment of the cottage, what the owners have achieved (and that's quite a lot!), is a comfortable, tasteful home from home. Tearing ourselves away was really hard! The local area has so much to offer with beautiful beaches, an enormous amount of personal space and lovely coastal walks. The drift cafe on the beach front is a must and the Fish Shack in Amble has the best mussels we have ever tasted. As for covid protection....everywhere we went was world class and nothing to worry about. This was particularly important for us staying in the cottage and the steps they have taken provided us with every confidence to simply relax. We are both still enjoying the benefits of a lovely week in Cresswell..... we will be back. Thank you.

We were the first guests to stay at Anchor Cottage after lockdown and were delighted with everything about our stay. The cottage is tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Waking up to the sight of the sea through the large bedroom windows was a treat and we loved being able to take just a few steps to be on the beach. The living room is large but cosy - ideal if you're coming in the colder months and the kitchen is also large with everything you need. Bedrooms are light and airy with a shower room upstairs and a bathroom downstairs to rest the aching muscles from all the walking you'll do along Druridge Bay's magnificent beach. A lovely stay in a high quality cottage.

A beautiful seafront location at the start of the Northumberland Coastal Path. Sit out on the bench overlooking the sea or walk from the door to the miles of golden sands between Cresswell and Amble, there's even a bus route to get you back, it's beautiful. Great for birdwatching and the ever thoughtful owners have provided binoculars if you haven't got your own. The thoroughly modernised cottage has been well though out and is very comfortable, there was certainly no difficulty relaxing at the end of our day. The cottage is furnished to a high standard and really is 'fully' equipped. We had to contact the owners due to the coronovirus 'stay at home edict' coming into force while we were there. This was very easy; great communication with them, they really are thoughtful hosts. We would recommend Anchor Cottage to anyone wanting a holiday on the Northeast Coast and in more relaxed times it will be perfect base for touring the area. We will certainly try and return when the world gets back to normal. Enjoy.

Stunning cottage, located in a perfect location. My wife and myself stayed at Anchor Cottage at the beginning of March for 3 nights. We had an absolutely wonderful stay and only wished we could have stayed for longer. The cottage was extremely clean, it is very modern and is beautifully decorated. The owners have thought of everything you need to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable, including providing board games, books and DVDs for those rainy days. The location of the cottage is absolutely perfect for exploring the Northumbrian coast. It is also located right on the sea front, which means that you not only get beautiful views of the sea, but you can hear the soothing roar of the sea from the cottage. We definitely intend to return to the cottage in the near future.

We stayed at Anchor Cottage for a long weekend in the middle of January 2020. The cottage is a traditional, stone-fronted terraced property which has been thoughtfully refurbished by the owners. It’s stylish and airy but at the same time really cosy, especially once you have the log burners on the go! Great kitchen with all mod cons, super shower room with good shower, lots of blankets to keep you cosy, very comfortable bed, parking right outside your back door - along with cake, fresh flowers, milk and marmalade on arrival - all make for a tremendous stay. But what makes it SO special is the location - wonderful sea views from the kitchen and bedrooms and just a couple of minutes’ walk to the beautiful dune-backed, deserted beach. It really is worth setting your alarm - even on holiday! - to take in the beautiful sunrise. Cresswell (around 45 minutes’ drive north of Newcastle) is a great location from which to explore the wonderful Northumbrian coast; we very much liked Warkworth, Alnmouth and Alnwick. Bamburgh is also well worth a visit - a small town with the commanding castle overlooking another vast beach. Be sure to eat at The Potted Lobster. Communication with the owners was very good before, during and after our stay. Thank you so much for a truly lovely break. The only disappointment was not booking a longer stay. We’d love to return. Highly recommended.

My wife and I were looking for a nice place to stay by the sea to get a complete break. We wanted adult only, pet free accommodation. Anchor Cottage is not only all of that but located literally right on the sea front. The views are amazing! This is a very traditional cottage refurbished to an exacting and modern standard. I have stayed in many places in my time but this has got to be the cleanest one ever. Also, there is everything provided to make your stay perfect. The kitchen was fully equipped and very clean and has the most amazing views. There is a very spacious yet cosy lounge with log burner and smart TV. Both bedrooms have Juliet balconies overlooking the sea. We only used the double bedroom and the bed was very comfortable. Both bathrooms were spotless and the shower was brilliant. Our days mainly consisted of rising at our leisure, having breakfast in the kitchen looking out to sea, taking a long walk on the beach. Perhaps calling in at the The Drift cafe along the coast where we had lovely lunch and hot drinks. Come back, read a book, watch TV, prepare evening meal and relax. Perfect. There are good amenities close by, a few minutes by car as well. Overall, I can't recommend it enough. We will be returning as soon as we can.

Anchor Cottage is probably the best we have stayed in. It is in a lovely quiet location right next to the beach but handy for local attractions. The renovations are of a high standard and the large kitchen window looking out to sea is fantastic. Both bedrooms look out to the same sea view I found myself setting the alarm so I could lay in bed and watch the sunrise, even getting up early to have a morning walk on the beach. The owners were in touch to make sure everything was alright for us. Thank you we would love to return.

The beautifully equipped and renovated fisherman's cottage has a wonderful position overlooking the beach. Huge windows and a garden bench make watching the tides ebb and flow an absorbing pastime. Miles of empty sands, extensive rock pools and vast skies, all form the backdrop to this cottage. We loved just sitting and watching, so much birdlife and a sighting of dolphins. Great cycling up the coast, largely off-road. Everything in the cottage worked perfectly and we loved the home made chocolate cake left for us. A great relaxing stay at Anchor Cottage. Thank you.

One of the best cottages we have ever rented. Anchor Cottage is a delight. Beautifully equipped with a stunning sea front location and an ideal base for touring the area we were really happy there and would have loved to stay longer. The owners have performed miracles to transform it into a very comfortable house and we will certainly aim to return at the earliest opportunity. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

We have nothing but praise for this lovely comfortable cottage. A welcoming vase of flowers, cake and milk in the fridge. The cottage is in immaculate condition with gorgeous sea views from the kitchen and both bedrooms. There is nothing better than lying in bed with a cup of tea watching the sun rise over the sea...if you are early risers as we are! We sat on the bench belonging to the cottage for hours, watching the changing sea views, and luckily for us a heron fishing for his lunch...fascinating. Lovely walks along the beach to the Drift Cafe. We also loved the Harbour and Marina at Amble looking over to Warkworth Castle and Coquet Island. When the wind blew we found a cosy spot in the front garden. This is a lovely place with a profusion of colourful spring bulbs and a sign of lavender, montbretia, buddleia and many more plants showing signs of a lovely garden for the summer. A real joy and a pleasure just to sit and look. We can’t wait to return to Anchor Cottage next year - a lovely homely cottage for a restful holiday. Thanks so much to the owners for all their wonderful touches to make this a perfect holiday cottage.

This was our second visit to this cottage and yet again we were not disappointed. From the welcoming home baked cake to the lovely decorative touches this is a great place from which to enjoy the Northumbrian countryside and towns. A cup of tea in bed overlooking the sea from the bedroom window is a great way to start the day. The many coastal walks can be accessed via judicious use of the car and the local buses. A day out in Morpeth, Alnwick and Cragside is also easily achievable. Returning home to the wood burning stove makes the day and delivers a very relaxing evening ahead. A great place to rest and recuperate.

We stayed in Anchor Cottage at the end of April 2019 for our honeymoon, after getting married at Cresswell church, and it truly could not have been more perfect! The cottage and the location are so beautiful. The work the owners have done to restore this original fishing cottage to (beyond!) its former glory is amazing. It's cozy and romantic yet modern and spacious. The views are incredible! Neighbours/locals were friendly and helpful. The village is sleepy and peaceful, yet there is plenty to see and do! Drift cafe is ideal, 5/10 min walk when you don't want to venture too far. We really enjoyed just living the dream for a week. Lots of time spent on my new favourite bench (willing a whale to show itself!) We loved the cottage garden too, so sweet. Lots of birds to see! Binoculars were a lovely touch. But yes, could go on and on.. BEAUTIFUL Anchor Cottage. Thank you for the wonderful memories! Thank you for sharing your home with us. Very grateful. Will be back!

Just returned from a wonderful break at this lovely place, the ultimate 'sea-view' cottage. The fine sandy beach with its clean and clear water is literally on your doorstep. The property itself is very spacious, clean and comfortable and in an ideal location for walking on the beach or exploring the beauty of the Northumberland coastal towns and surrounding areas. The Drift cafe along the road is brilliant for tea and cake to full meals. Then wander back along the beach to the cottage for a sit on the Anchor Cottage bench and take in the views. We were very lucky with the weather and saw some lovely dark skies during our visit. The twinkling stars above and the gentle sounds of the waves on the beach. Idyllic. Our return visit is already planned. It is rare to find a place that you look forward to calling "home" for a short time and Anchor Cottage is such a place. Very Highly Recommended.

We were looking for a coastal cottage with views of the sea. Anchor Cottage was everything we hoped for and more. The photos don't portray how spacious the rooms are. The cottage is very well equipped and clean and the décor is very tasteful and the furnishings make for a great home from home feel. Beautiful countryside views from the lounge and amazing to see a flock of curlews in the field. The panoramic views from the kitchen are different with every tide and constantly enthralling. The beautiful beach is moments away and great for walks. A great location for birdwatching at the nearby reserves and we spotted over 40 of the birds in the Bird Atlas from the bookcase. The log burner in the kitchen was perfect to create a cosy atmosphere for a romantic dinner. The owners have achieved a mix of modern and traditional throughout perfectly. The bedrooms are uncluttered with a modern feel, our bed was comfortable and sitting in bed watching the sunrise is highly recommended. If we had to pick a fault...we couldn't.

As we stepped through the door, there were flowers and a cake on the table, as well as milk in the fridge. Tea, coffee and sugar were also available which felt like such a generous touch, even though we didn’t end up using much of them. The owners checked in a couple of times during the week via text, just to make sure all was well.. it was! We agreed that the photographs don’t do Anchor Cottage justice - it’s even more stunning! We spent most of our time either reading or walking by the sea, and we also had a fabulous breakfast at The Drift Cafe after we’d packed up to leave. All in all it was just the sanctuary we needed and I have no doubt we’ll be back!

Absolutely lovely cottage with the beach only a stones throw from the door. The owners were very kind leaving a gorgeous fresh cake, flowers, milk and marmalade. They even took the time to check how we got on at the end of our stay. We were here during Storm Gareth and the cottage felt secure and cosy. Highly recommend The Drift for cooked breakfasts and cakes. Can't wait to come back to this cottage as it's stunning.

Anchor Cottage is the most fabulous place to stay. From the minute you walk in and see the welcome cake and other goodies you start to feel immediately special and at home. Such a lovely touch from the owners and team. The cottage is warm, spotlessly clean, well equipped with everything you could possibly need, comfy sofas and beds, plush towels, cosy log burners for romantic evenings and spectacular views overlooking the sea. ( each bedroom has a Juliette balcony so we woke up every day to the sound of waves and views of the sea). Sitting out on the garden bench with a glass of wine watching the changing seascape, walking along the deserted beach, or star gazing at a dark clear sky, it’s a perfect haven of rest and relaxation! For the more active, the cottage is on near by coastal paths and there’s plenty of places to visit in the area. It’s a great base for exploring Northumberland with lots of wildlife on your doorstep. Lots of great places to eat (scones in The Drift cafe is a must do) within a short walk or car drive if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful cottage!! The neighbours gave us such a warm welcome too and are such lovely folk, great to chat with about the history and local area. We stayed for a glorious week and loved every minute. It is a truly exceptional and special place to stay. We will be recommending Anchor Cottage to all our friends and will definitely be booking again. Can’t wait to return. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful place with us.

Anchor Cottage is absolutely stunning and set in a beautiful location. The owners have done a fantastic renovation, you can see the sheer hard work, thought and love that has gone into it. Their attention to detail is amazing. It is so well equipped, they have thought of everything - it’s absolutely perfect. As guests you are made so welcome, we arrived to find home made cake, milk, marmalade and fresh cut flowers. The view from the kitchen window looking out to sea is breath taking and waking up on a morning looking from your bed to watch the sunrise was a perfect start to each day. The location of the cottage is spot on for exploring the beautiful Northumberland coastline, but dragging ourselves from the cottage each day was difficult but we did it. While we were there the days were cold but coming “home” to the cottage each day and warming ourselves in front of the log fire made the perfect end to an already fantastic day. The owners should be so proud of what they have achieved. Thank you for all the useful information, keeping in touch and for making us feel so welcome. We can’t recommend this cottage enough, we will be telling friends and family about it without a doubt and will most definitely be coming back. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Thank you. Great first impression to walk into the large kitchen with its panoramic windows. The cottage was sparkling clean with flowers, milk tea, sugar coffee and best of all a large cake. Over the week you realise how much thought and effort must have gone in to the renovation, whilst we weren't blessed with the greatest weather returning to the cottage after another soaking always seemed a treat. The bedrooms both have Juliet balconies and you can open the doors and sit and gaze at the sea to your heart's content. The lounge too deserves a mention, large and uncluttered and, when we visited great for watching the swallows fledging. Beds have good quality sheets etc - ideal for peaceful sleeps! Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. It has been tastefully restored by the owners and we felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. Anchor Cottage is cosy, very clean and well equipped with everything you’d need. It’s a great base to explore the area as well as lovely coastal walks from the cottage. The sea view from the back is stunning and if you’re lucky you’ll spot dolphins ! The owners are very friendly and helpful, emailing all the info required for the cottage and useful tips on where to eat and visit. We would love to return in the future and would highly recommend Anchor Cottage to anyone.

Anchor Cottage manages to be both spacious and cosy. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the views and also an ideal base to visit so many lovely places only a short drive away. This was our 4th holiday here and this time we shared it with good friends who were equally impressed.

Anchor Cottage is fabulous, it looks brilliant in the photographs but even better in real life. The cottage has been decorated to a very high standard and is immaculately clean. The views from the panoramic kitchen window are outstanding, you can see miles out to sea and it gets even better upstairs where there are Juliet balconies in each of the bedrooms. The cottage was lovely and cosy at night and had wood burning stoves in the kitchen and sitting room with plenty of logs supplied to fuel them. Everything was there to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone thinking of visiting Northumberland as it was in an excellent location with the beautiful sandy beaches a stone's throw away. Check-in and check out was easy, the owners, were easy to contact if there was a problem. Thank you for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage, it's definitely the top of my list for a revisit.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay in Anchor Cottage. This is by far the best cottage we have visited, The views are amazing and we loved to sit on the bench looking out to sea. We were lucky to have lots of sun shine on the first 3 days and what a joy to have the golden glow of sunrise on the sea and in the bed room. This very comfortable cottage had every thing we could possibly need and much more!. Every thing was clean and tidy and we had flowers, lovely chocolate cake and milk and a jar of special marmalade. The kindness of the owners was reflected in the great, positive energy in the cottage.Thank you so much ,we love it.

You can sum up Anchor Cottage in two words-SIMPLY SUPERB. Lovely renovated cottage in beautiful seaside location. Excellent furnishing and fittings, and exceptionally clean-the best we have found in over 30 years of self catering cottage holidays. Just had a week here with excellent weather (only one day of rain), and enjoying sitting on "Bank Top" right on the sea edge. Unusual for the seaside it has its own parking space. Bags or room for 2 or 4 in comfort. Excellent meals at The Drift Cafe just a short walk away, and good food pubs and farm shop in adjacent villages. We can thoroughly recommend this cottage, but book early as it will be very popular. The owners are very helpful and keep in touch to keep you updated with your booking. We look forward to returning soon.

What a stunning cottage! We loved the attention to detail and the cottage has been renovated to a high standard. The juliet balconies are a perfect way to watch the sun rise early over the sea from your bed, and the wooden bench is perfectly placed on the sea cliff to enjoy the sea views. The cottage is a great base to explore all of the Northumberland area. We had such a relaxing stay and will definitely return.

A second stay at lovely Anchor Cottage did not disappoint. Comfortable and well appointed with views to die for. Every time I looked out of the window my heart lifted. A perfect central area for all the coastal attractions of Northumberland within easy reach of several supermarkets it is also a two minute walk to the best beaches in the country. (not to mention a cafe with the best cakes).

Anchor Cottage was perfect for us, with walks on the beach right from the doorstep. We loved the comfy double bed with double doors opening out onto a fabulous sea view, two bathrooms was an added luxury, and we enjoyed getting the two log burners going on an evening. The cottage was very clean, and quiet. Plenty to do, if we could drag ourselves away from the beach. The Boat trip from Amble around Coquet Island was great, as was Hauxley Nature Reserve and Druridge Bay Country Park. The local history was fascinating, and we were lucky enough to meet the local archaeologist, who gave us a guided tour of the Pele Tower - brilliant! All in all, we had a very relaxing week, didn’t want to leave, and will definitely be back.

What a lovely place to chill out, the owners have done an excellent job of refurbishing the cottage, very well-equipped, wanted for nothing and a lovely log fire for the chilly evenings, first visit will not be our last. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE .

Anchor Cottage is the gateway to discovering one of the north's jewels, its landscape. Anchor Cottage more than lived up to expectations. It was clean, comfortable, well equipped and very spacious. The sea views from the kitchen and bedroom windows are a treat. There are plenty of home comforts if the weather is poor. But the locality also offers plenty to explore in all weathers and especially if it is fine. A lovely place to stay with brilliant communication from the owners.

Northumberland is a beautiful area for rest and relaxation, with stunning beaches and beautiful countryside. Anchor Cottage is well placed to take advantage of this, sitting right next to the start of the Northumbrian Coastal Path. The cottage has been perfectly restored (as documented by the picture library in the guest book!). The quality of finish is excellent and all the rooms furnished to a high standard. It was great to open the blinds and see the sea from the bedroom each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed the wood burning stove, being November, although the weather was unseasonably sunny which allowed us to walk every day! All the facilities functioned very well which made for a easy and very comfortable stay. The very popular Drift Café was a 5 minute walk up the road, though a car was required to reach any other 'watering holes'. A lovely place to stay for some rest and recuperation.

Anchor Cottage is really lovely, as are the owners. They have converted this fishing cottage into a beautiful holiday let. I have stayed in many holiday cottages and this is truly excellent, nothing has been forgotten and the situation next to the sea is to die for! Sunset and sunrise and a never ending changing coastal scene is perfect for a relaxing break. The beach a minutes walk is fabulous too, but shhhhhh please keep it to yourself :)

A very nicely presented cottage, with all that a self catering holiday needs. The sea views from the kitchen and bedrooms really make this holiday stay stand out from others.

Great base for exploring Northumbria. absolutely beautifully decorated and gorgeous views from both sides of the cottage. very welcoming owners and the Drift Cafe down the road and farm shop well worth a visit.

We've just returned from a lovely week's stay at Anchor Cottage. The cottage is beautiful. It has been renovated to such a high standard whilst keeping the character of the cottage. We were blessed with good weather during the day however the wood burners were invaluable as the evenings were cold. It was so cosy chilling with a bottle of wine, watching the fire. The view from the cottage is stunning and it was a pleasure washing up with such spectacular views. The proprietors have thought of everything and the cottage is so well stocked. They have provided a wealth of information, including lots of tourist information, which we have added to. We arrived to beautiful flowers, milk and the most delicious cake. Tea and cake was most welcome after our long journey. The county of Northumberland is magical. From the cottage you are a few steps away from the beautiful coastline, which continues for miles. Definitely worth a drive along the coastal route as there are so many lovely places to stop and explore along the way. Go in a different direction and you find yourself in the beautiful countryside and the Cheviot Hills. Cragside is definitely worth a visit along with the lovely picturesque town of Rothbury. If you fancy a bit of city life and shopping, jump on the train to Newcastle or head into Scotland. We had the most amazing day in Edinburgh. Lastly, you can't stay in Cresswell and not visit the ice cream parlour. I can't recommend this cottage enough and it's a great base for couples and families. We will definitely go back.

Stayed for a walking holiday in this beautifully renovated cottage overlooking the sea. Lovely walks along the coast and countryside in a peaceful safe environment. Many local pubs with friendly staff and good food. A great part of the county to explore and stay in a bit of luxury. Very clean with every amenity you could want. Would like to keep places like this a secret but only fair to appreciate all the hard work that has gone into creating this cosy cottage.

Anchor Cottage and Druridge Bay far exceeded our expectations. The place is presented in show room condition. The resources left us lacking for nothing. The chair in the lounge was so comfy it was hard not to fall asleep to the sounds of the fire. Our legs well walked across the bay with Drift Cafe a key Pitt stop for tea and all the cakes and scones you need to fuel those walks. Best meal in Amble on the quayside. Seafood platter. We shall return next year.

I really can't speak highly enough of this cottage. It was a real treat to stay there, a far higher standard than any cottage that I have stayed in before. This is really high end, very tasteful, yet comfortable and welcoming. There was nothing missing, so very well thought out, and arriving to find home made cake and milk in the fridge, plus locally made marmalade (with gin - ta ra!) was very nice. I doubt that I will ever stay somewhere with such fantastic sea views again. There is a lot to do in the surrounding area, including lots of lovely eating places. The owners left a lot of useful information and were very friendly to deal with. Simply lovely.

Lovely immaculate cottage in great location with brilliant views especially from the kitchen / dining area.

This is a beautifully decorated and spacious cottage within throwing distance of the beach. We spent a few nights here in March and we weren't disappointed. The location is quiet and if you like long walks on the beach then perfect. We would definitely recommend this place, communication before getting there was excellent. We love visiting Northumberland and now we have found a perfect base for future visits.

Very high standard of finish and views which were fantastic. Level of cleanliness to the highest standard, there was nothing it did not have - first class. Beautiful cottage, stunning location fantastic walks nice place to be. A must must visit don't let this one get away !

We have had a fabulous week with Anchor Cottage being the perfect base from which to explore Northumbria. Anchor Cottage is captivating and a real home from home.

It would be so easy just to stay in the comfort of lovely Anchor Cottage and just soak in the views from the window or the sea front bench but it is also a great base for fantastic attractions within easy reach for a day out. We did both and loved it.

Thank you for a wonderful week's holiday. After a tough six months with covid lockdown it's been lovely to get away and have a break. Pele View Cottage is a gorgeous holiday property - one of the best we have ever stayed in. The beach is awesome and we have had some brilliant walks with our dog. We would recommend the 'Drift Cafe' up the road, and Bamburgh Castle and beach are well worth a visit. The owners have been very gracious hosts. Hope to be back one day !
